Synopsis
Luna Barlows is a marriage counselor with a painful past marked by abuse and abandonment. When her father left her mother, she made herself a promise: she would never let another couple experience the same kind of brokenness.

During her studies, she meets Aiyden — a young man living under the shadow of his abusive father. Luna vows to save him, but as time passes, life pulls them in different directions. Years later, Aiyden resurfaces, attempting to destroy Luna’s reputation. Now a well-known marriage counselor and the wife of a prominent lawyer, Luna must face the ghosts of her past.

One day, Luna’s path crosses with Anna’s — a young woman who came to the United States chasing a better future. Anna’s husband dreams of becoming the youngest mayor of New York, but their marriage hides secrets... and Anna hides a story involving a man named Carlos. When the couple seeks Luna’s help, she vows once again to save a marriage — until something terrible happens that will shake every promise she’s ever made.

What really happened that day? Will Luna be able to keep any of her vows? And who is truly deceiving whom?

My Thoughts
The Deceptive Vows is the debut novel of an upcoming author — and my nephew — Zhamiro Reinita. I had the privilege of being one of the first readers, and I must say: family or not, this story captured me from the very first page. The suspense, the characters, and the writing style kept me reading nonstop. The plot twist was beyond what I expected — truly impressive for a debut novel.

An engaging, emotional, and suspenseful story that leaves you wanting more. A promising start to an author worth watching!

A suspenseful and emotionally layered debut that proves this is an author worth keeping an eye on.
